On Saturday, December 7th, the Asia-Pacific Law Institute, together with the Korea-China Society of Law, the Chinese Law Association in Korea, and the Law Institute of Sookmyung Women's University, hosted an academic conference entitled "Revision of the Chinese Company Law and Recent Legal Issues in China" at Jusan Hall (Room 301) of the 100th Anniversary Hall(Bldg.17), Seoul National University. The conference was held by a hybrid way of online and offline. At the opening ceremony, Ms. Sunhee Kang (President of the Korea-China Law Society) delivered an opening speech, and Prof. Byoungchang WOO (President of the Korea-China Law Society), Prof. Seongwook Heo (Director of the Asia-Pacific Law Institute) and Judge Xue Miao (Legal Advisor of Chinese Embassy in Korea) delivered congratulatory remarks. The conference was divided into three sessions, starting with a keynote speech by Prof. Wu Ri Huan (Professor, School of Economics and Law, China University of Political Science and Law, Director of Korean Law research Center).
In the first session, presentations and discussions were held on the topics of “Attribution of profits and damages due to breach of fiduciary duty by company directors and senior managers under the [new Company Law],” in the second session, “A Study on Local Laws in China - Focusing on the Nature and Scope of Authority of Local Laws,” and in the third session, “Current Status and Improvement Measures of Electronic Litigation in China.” The conference concluded successfully with closing remarks by Professor Young-Hwan Jeong (Advisor to the Society of Chinese Law in Korea) and Prof. Lin Hu (Professor, School of Law, East China University of Technology).
