The Asia-Pacific Law Institute (Director: Professor Jong-ik Chon) held the 5th SNU Asia-Pacific Law–NUS CALS Joint Conference on Asian Comparative Law on April 17, 2026 (Friday), at Seoam Hall (Building 17), Seoul National University School of Law, in collaboration with the Centre for Asian Legal Studies (CALS), NUS Law, National University of Singapore.
The conference, held under the theme “Contemporary Issues in Comparative Law,” consisted of five sessions covering a wide range of topics, including criminal law theory, constitutional design, labor law, ESG and investor behavior, the Roman law tradition, international taxation, security rights, and comparative institutional development. The conference was attended by SNU Law faculty members, including Director Jong-ik Chon, Associate Director Jun-hyuk Jung, Professor Young-gul Oh, Professor Jin-young Hong, Professor Sang-hoon Lee, Professor Beom-jun Kim, Professor Seok-hwan Choi, and Professor Masaki Iwasaki, as well as scholars from NUS CALS, including Professor Dian Shah (Deputy Director, NUS CALS), Professor Weitseng Chen, Professor Dora Neo, and Dr. Raeesa Vakil. The conference provided a valuable platform for active academic exchange.
