Asia-Pacific Law Institute at Seoul National University (Professor Seongwook Heo, Director) held a joint academic conference with the UC Berkeley School of Law Korea Law Center on May 17, 2024 (Friday), under the theme "Korean and U.S. Perspectives on Common Legal Challenges." The conference commenced with welcoming and opening remarks by Director Seongwook Heo of the Asia-Pacific Law Institute and Director John Yoo of the UC Berkeley School of Law Korea Law Center.

From Seoul National University, attendees included Jaemin Lee, the upcoming Dean of the School of Law, former Deputy Director Kye Joung Lee, Professors Bong-Kyung Choi, Woongjae Kim, Sang Won Lee, Woo-Young Rhee, JungSoo Lee, Jong Hyeok Lee, Sang-Hyeon Jeon, and Kyung-Hoon Chun. Representing the UC Berkeley School of Law Korea Law Center were Dean Erwin Chemerinsky, Professors Charles Weisselberg, Daniel Farber, Paul Schwartz, Steven Davidoff Solomon, Frank Partnoy, along with Professor Thomas H. Lee from Fordham Law School and Professor Thomas W. Joo from UC Davis Law.

The conference featured several sessions that provided in-depth discussions on a variety of topics. Experts from both Korea and the United States compared the differences in legal systems and practices between the two countries, discussing the common legal challenges they face and exploring various approaches to addressing these issues.
